KINDERGARTEN
Our kindergarten day emphasizes academics while fostering Christian character with quarterly service projects. The children meet from 9am to 1pm, have lunch with their class, and have recess and/or PE daily. Our goal is to address each of the state standards while focusing on the needs of the individual child. Assessments are used to show growth and to familiarize children with them, but they are only a minor portion of our program. Our 1:4 teacher to student ratio is optimal for small adult-guided group learning daily, and is what sets us apart. The children are excelling and are well prepared to transition to their 1st grade classes, outside of CUMP.
CUMK parent testimonials:
“Our kindergarten experience at CUMK has been wonderful. My daughter loves going to school and is eager to be the first one there every day. Her confidence has grown both academically and socially. The teachers are nurturing and passionate. They provide education with compassion and creativity. My daughter is thriving, as they have created an environment for success and accomplishment. The small class size has allowed her to succeed beyond my expectations. CUMK is a supportive, nurturing, and challenging environment that rewards independence, kindness to others, and hard work.”
Alana Adam, parent of student 22/23 school year
“As a first-time parent of a school age child, we honestly struggled with the decision to find the right kindergarten program for our daughter. She has been at CUMP since she was a toddler, and she went through the CUMP Pre-K program as she has a late summer birthday. Honestly, we rode the fence with the decision to stay at CUMP or start her in the public-school system. With excellent guidance from the administrative team at CUMP as well as my mother, a retired educator, my husband and I do not regret one minute of our decision to enroll our daughter in the program at CUMP. There are so many reasons that make this program excellent. The teacher to student ratio is exceptional. Because of the small classroom size, every aspect of her education is individualized to her needs. There are small groups to give each child guided focus on areas such as reading, science and math. With this focused attention, we believe she has learned at a faster pace than she would have in a public-school class. We believe this will set her up for success as she transitions next year. Additionally, the overall positive atmosphere of the classroom is exemplary. The children are empowered to learn while also developing the ability to be a friend, have good manners and be part of a group. Furthermore, the children learn about our community and ways that we can support our neighbors through projects and outreach. Our daughter is excited to go to school in the morning and excited to share about her day on the way home. We will forever be grateful that our daughter started her journey and hopefully lifelong love of education at CUMP.”
